This Website is designed to help with identification of Birds and some Mammals which occur in Southern Africa. In 2020 it is our intention to start adding Trees and other species.
Where a Latin name appears, it refers to the Geographical variation race of that species.
Endemic and near-endemic species to Southern Africa are marked "endemic"

"MY BUSH CAMP"
If you are ever in the vicinity of Belabela (Warmbaths) and need a stop over or a couple of nights R & R with some "birding" and close encounters with Sable and black and saddle-back Impala, drive 15kms west on the Thabazimbi road and you will find "My Bush Camp"
We had a very relaxing and fine birding experience in the company of Frans and Jan.
The Luxury Tents were near completion when we left. These Tents with braai facilities and en-suite ablutions are more that than you need for a night under the African stars.
The Camp-site is neat and tidy with shaded stands and top-notch Abultions.
Portable Braais are available on site.
A thatched Lapa with a big Flat screen TV completes your requirements.
There are also 3 or 4 very well appointed Chalets for those who prefer this type of Accomodation.
All these photos were taken over a couple of days during the very dry period in October. It must be "pretty as a picture" after they have had some rain there.
